Rhodia Spain was created in 1997 although the company had been trading in Spain as Rhône-Poulenc since 1923.

After a few years of strong growth, several businesses were divested following a decision to focus the trading activities on areas where the company led the market worldwide. This was further reinforced when Rhodia Spain acquired Polimer Iberia, S.L., a polyamide production facility in Blanes, Catelonia, in 2006. Rhodia Iberia S.L.is now headquartered in Madrid, with an additional sales office in Barcelona and a polyamide plant in Blanes.
